Maple - Soft Maple

Soft maple machines well and can be stained to an excellent finish. It glues, screws, and nails satisfactorily. Polishes well and is suitable for enamel finishes and brown tones. It dries slowly with minimal degrade and there is little movement in performance.

  • Colour: Sapwood is slightly lighter than hard maple. Ranges from pale to almost white. Heartwood is grey to pale reddish brown with characteristic brown streaks.

  • Texture: Close grain, uniform, similar grain pattern to hard maple, although 25% softer.

  • Applications: Furniture, mouldings, millwork, cabinetry, interior joinery.
